We had a fantastic experience on this 30-minute ride. The guides were excellent, and Beth was especially helpful. She kept my daughter and me calm, explained what to expect, and made us feel comfortable throughout the trail ride. Highly recommended!

Absolutely LOVED our hour long trail ride this morning! Beth and Claire were fantastic tour guides, the horses were so sweet and well taken care of and the property was amazing! We got to see lots of wild deer and had a wonderful ride!

We just had a FANTASTIC hour long trail ride! I rode SJ & she was such a good horse. Claire was a great lead and Beth pointed out all the deer and shared about the history of Shelby Farms. It was beautiful land, wonderful horses & staff and overall a fantastic activity! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The 1 Hour Ride
An hour on horseback through the shady forest of Shelby Farms Park. A guide rides with you the whole way, and you might spot deer, raccoons, bobcats, rabbits, fox and plenty of birds along the trail. It is the ride most first-timers pick, and the one most riders come back for.

At Shelby Farms Stables, we believe that every ride should be more than just a trail. It should be an experience. We are inside Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the largest urban parks in the country, and we have been riding these trails for 11 years.
Whether you are a first-time rider or an experienced equestrian, our doors are open to all. Most of our guests have never been on a horse before. Our well-trained horses, knowledgeable guides, and friendly, family-oriented atmosphere make this a place where people return again and again.
We offer gentle pony rides for children, 30 minute to 2 hour trail rides, private and sunset rides for your group, and summer horse camps for kids and adults.

1 Hour Horseback Ride
Enjoy a nice hour-long ride through the shady forest of Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, TN. This is our most popular ride.
You might have the opportunity to view wildlife while riding such as deer, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, fox and multiple bird species.
All riders must be at least 8 years old and up and be at least 50" tall. All participants need to weigh under 240 lbs each, should wear comfortable long pants and wear closed toed shoes like boots or tennis shoes.
30 Minute Horseback Ride
A shorter ride that either goes through the pastures or the forest of Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, TN.
All riders must be at least 7 years old and up and be at least 50" tall. You might have the opportunity to view wildlife while riding such as deer, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, fox and multiple bird species.
All participants need to weigh under 240 lbs each, should wear comfortable long pants and wear closed toed shoes like boots or tennis shoes.
1.5 Hour Horseback Trail Ride
Explore and enjoy our 1.5 hour ride in Memphis, TN. It will take you into the forest of Shelby Farms Park where you will enjoy nature and make memories.
All riders must be at least 13 years old and under the weight of 240 lbs.
2 Hour Horseback Ride
An adventure ride for those with a little experience in Memphis, TN.
You might have the opportunity to view wildlife while riding such as deer, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, fox and multiple bird species.

4,500 acres of forest, lakes and open fields
Shelby Farms Park is one of the largest urban parks in the country: 4,500 acres of forest, lakes and wide-open fields on the east side of Memphis, with about three million visitors a year. Our stables sit inside the park, so every ride starts on the trail, not on a road.
Along the way you might see deer, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, fox and multiple bird species. Spring and fall are the best times to ride, and March and October are our busiest months. Summer rides go out in the cooler hours, and the Sunset Private Ride is the last and best ride of the day. The park closes its boats, bikes and zipline for winter, but the horses ride every day except Christmas.

No. Whether you are a first-time rider or an experienced equestrian, our doors are open to all. Most of our guests have never ridden before, and a guide goes out with every ride.
Yes. All riders must weigh under 240 pounds.
It depends on the ride. Pony rides start at age 4, the 30 Minute Ride and the Private Ride at age 7, the 1 Hour Ride at age 8, and the 1.5 Hour and 2 Hour rides at age 13. Most rides also need riders to be at least 50 inches tall.

Every day of the year except Christmas. Rides are booked by time slot, so pick your ride and choose a time.
We are open daily, subject to weather conditions. If the trails are wet, rides will not take place. The safety of our guests and horses is our top priority. If there has been wet weather recently, please call 901-647-5793 for the latest trail conditions and hours.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your ride. We run on a tight schedule and cannot wait for late riders, so if you are late your spot may be cancelled with no refund.
